The original quote was, “The day will come when, after harnessing the ether, the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and on that day, for a second time in the history of the world, Man will have discovered fire.” It is the concluding sentence from Teilhard’s essay “The Evolution of Chastity”, one of his most important essays.
